It’s Been A While

Hi everyone. I know it’s been a while since I have posted. I don’t like letting it go this long, stuff but I just have not been up to it these days. I felt kind of down last week. I don’t know why. I had a really bad headache last week, discount that lasted a couple of days. I think it was a migraine. I haven’t had a bad headache in years. Yesterday, I spent some time outside. It was a gorgeous day and the changes in the seasons are starting to show.

I was sitting in my garden, watching the butterflies on my butterfly bush. It looked as though they were going to hang around for a while, so I hurried into the house and got my camera.

Look at this amazing little guy. Doesn’t he look like a stained glass window? Butterflies are such beautiful little creatures. How can you not feel happy and blessed when you watch them fluttering about?

Getting out in nature, sure helps you put things into perspective. I know the news has been glum lately. Maybe that’s what brought on my headache. Getting outside and walking, sure does make you feel better. If you’re having one of those days, force yourself to get outside. It’s amazing how breathing in the fresh air and sunshine, can make such a difference in how you feel.
Now, I want to show you something that I saw in an antique shop on my recent trip to Cape Cod. I wish I bought it. You know that feeling when something just speaks to you. This basket just did.

There wasn’t anyone in the shop that could tell me anything about it. The tag just called it “Folk Art Basket”. If anyone knows anything about this kind of basket, I would love to hear from you. Would this be a basket purse? I don’t know.
Happy day

Hi Carole! Yes~ a good bit of time out doors does a body & spirit good! I am glad you are feeling better. I too get horrible migranes~ dr calls mine cluster headaches, and thank GOODNESS I am only graced by their presence once a year or so. I havent had one so far this year, knock on wood~ but when I do get them, ohhh so horrible~ they are totally incapacitating. I think what on earth is going on in my head to make it hurt so badly! Your butterflies are so pretty~ whenI was out feeding the chickens yesterday, I saw one flutter past me and I had to stop and watch it…I think it was the last one of our season. Not here at the house yet, but looking off our porch up on the mountains we have had snow for over a week solid now, and our high today is only in the low 40s. Autumn is here in Colorado!
The basket is reffered to as ‘straw work’~ these were popular sewing baskets in the 1870s and 80s. Normally I see them quite smaller~ this is a nice big one!

Rachael, I’m sorry you get migraines. i wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I have not had one since menopause, and that’s been a long while. thank you for the info on the basket. I had a feeling you might know something about it. I do love it. Wish I owned it.

Oh Carole…..I used to have migraines before I hit menopause. I used to tell my husband that was one of the nice things about getting older…no headaches and no monthly visits! So glad you feel better. Anyway..I love that basket! I have never seen anything like that before..was it expensive? What a unique piece…you will probably wished you had bought it! I passed up a beautiful doughbox table last week because one of the legs was a “little” wobbly. It was from the 1800′s and was only $185…I couldn’t sleep that night thinking about it and then of course when I called to have it put on hold…it was sold!! What they say is true..the best time to buy an antique is when you see it! Have a great night!

That has happened to me and it is very disappointing but then you have to remind yourself, it’s only a pocession. I know I spelled word that wrong. I need another sip of coffee. it’s early.
