It’s Over!

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Thank goodness it’s finally over!! We really lucked out with this hurricane. We were prepared for the worse, pilule but it wasn’t so bad. Ha!, now that it’s over I can that.

Around 6:30 p.m. the wind really picked up, gusts about 60 mph, with pounding rain. We could hear a loud sound in the distance. Still don’t know what that was. There were reported tornadoes in our area. We even saw lightening. This was early on so we were thinking that this would be really scary. That was as bad as it got, thankfully. Sure we got tons of rain and high winds, but it wasn’t constant, it would start and stop. We got water in our basement, and we do have the sump pump running, not sure where it got in. The electricity went of twice during the night but came right back on. Strange, it wasn’t raining and it wasn’t that windy. Right now the sky is getting blue and the winds have died down. As far as I am hearing, Rehoboth Beach, DE. is okay. We’re going down on Tuesday, This week is supposed to be beautiful, sunny and in the 70′s and low 80′s. All is well here in Wilmington, Delaware.

It’s been raining off and on. There was some wind, seek but nothing out of the ordinary. I had the TV on most of the day, buy viagra following the hurricane as it moves up the east coast, cialis and wondering what to expect when it finally arrives here in Delaware.

Earlier today I went for a swim in the rain. It was dark and dreary, but it was awesome. I felt so connected to nature.

Around 6:30 p.m. we had a couple of tornado warnings and that was a bit unsettling. I can’t believe we had an earthquake and a hurricane all within a week!

It’s past 10 p.m. The wind and rain have REALLY picked up. Our ground are already saturated, it’s been a rainy summer. The worst of the storm will come overnight. I hope we don’t loose any of our trees, thankfully none of our big ones are close to the house. We might loose our power, and most likely we will. If we do I’ll be without my computer and won’t be able to blog tomorrow. I will as soon as I can.

Oddly enough, as I finish writing, the rain has slowed down and there little wind. Hmm  We’ll see what happens over night when the worst of the storm is expected. I’m sure there’s more to come but maybe we’ll catch a break.

I want you to know how much I appreciate all your emails and comments, it so nice of you to take the time to write. They are SO MUCH appreciated.

I can’t believe we had an earthquake and a hurricane all within a week!

Good night.

I’ve prepared for this hurricane as best I can, help now all I can do is wait. My oil lamps are filled in case I loose my electricity, which I totally expect to happen. Thankfully the hurricane has been downgraded to a category 1, so I’m not as worried as I was yesterday. We put everything away that could be dangerous if the winds are as strong as predicted. We were supposed to get 10 inches of rain, but now they are predicting 6-8 inches or more. The ground is already saturated. Our grass is so green for this time of the year. I love that! The hurricane is supposed to arrive in my area, Wilmington, Delaware, tomorrow around 2 p.m. I’ll be back to keep you posted.

One more thing I wanted to mention. I just received my 12 copies of Early Homes magazine and I’ll have them for sale on my website. Remember this is the magazine that had the article about my house and murals in the last issue. So many of you were unable to find the magazine so I wanted to be sure I had some issues this time. This magazine only comes out a couple of times a year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. It’s a good magazine, one of my favorites. It has a nice article about Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and it’s Amish community, one of the areas of Pennsylvania where I spend a lot of time antiquing.

Happy day

Hurricane Irene

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

It’s 9:13 p.m. I’m watching tv and listening to all the coverage about hurricane Irene. I have to admit, shop I’m starting to get a little nervous. I can’t help but wonder what kind of damage it will do to Rehoboth Beach too. All I know is that it’s a really bad hurricane, and it’s coming our way.

It’s a little scary.

East Coast Earthquake

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

Yesterday around 1′oclock I was having a meeting with some people from the State of Delaware. We were all sitting around my dining room table discussing funding for Delaware’s most vulnerable populations when the room seemed to sway back and forth. All talking stopped. We all looked at one another wide eyed. What was that! I knew right away that we had just experienced an earthquake, cialis there was no doubt about it. It only lasted a few seconds, buy cialis maybe ten or so, but it was long enough to give you a little taste of what an earthquake is like.  Now we wait for the hurricane. Stay tuned!

Last week I lost my driver’s license. I don’t know how this happened. I went to make a purchase with credit card. I never sign credit cards for security reasons, site so most times I am asked for an ID. I reached for my driver’s license! Where was it! I must have looked through my wallet a half dozen times, but just wasn’t there. I just renewed it a few months ago. Oh, darn, another trip to motor vehicle.

The next day I got ready. I tried to look as nice as I could, for that dreaded photo ID. After I got there I didn’t have to wait that long. Just needed to answer a couple of questions, and have my picture taken. So I fluffed up my hair, straightened my blouse, looked straight ahead at the camera. I tried to look as pleasant as I could without smiling. Heaven forbid I should look like I’m in a police lineup! I paid my $10., and went down to the waiting room to wait for my new license.  There were several people before me. It was very quiet. Then all of  a sudden a woman about my age, maybe a little younger, was told hers was ready. She looked at it and  got hysterical laughing. “That’s me, that’s me? Look at that fat face! It’s so fat!! Look at my fat face”!She was so loud, but she was funny, and she was laughing. Then she walked over and sat down next to me and showed me her license. Again she said, “look at that, my face is so fat! Is my face that fat?, she asked. “No”, these pictures are never flattering”, I said. Then my name was called. I looked at mine. “Do I look that old”, I thought. Probably. Put it in my wallet and headed back home. It felt good to have my driver’s license.
