FS2062 Early 19th Century Doll $225.
I got up at 3:30 a.m. on a Sunday and drove to Lancaster County Pennsylvania. The dealers are outside every Sunday at this time, and I wanted to see if getting up this early was worth it. Oh, boy, it was hard, but I was determined to do it. I arrived at my destination at 5 a.m. The first thing I noticed was this early rag doll. I thought she was very interesting because her head is lightly stuffed and she has no face. Her body, arms and legs are hard stuffed. She is completely hand sewn. Her dress and petticoat underneath are original. I wondered if her head is, but looking closely I can see that it is. Her body and head are all one piece. Her arms and legs are sewn on separately. On the front of her neck area, and on the back of her neck there are four "tufts" of string. I have no idea why they are there. The last photo shows what I mean. She is a wonderful early doll, in great condition, but does have dirty hands and feet. Love that he feet have a slight turned up look. She measures 14-1/2 inches in length, and if you are a collector of early rag dolls, she makes a wonderful addition to your collection. It was worth getting up that early just to find this early doll for you. $225. Includes her travel fare.
