This unusual and rare basket was purchased from a private collection. The husband and wife that owned it told me that it is an egg basket, could have been an Easter basket. I fell in love with it and just could not pass it up. If you collect early and unusual rye baskets, this one is a real treasure. Very good condition. There are some breaks around the rim. The patina is dark and wonderful, the kind we love to see on early baskets. It measures about 15 inches high, to the top of the handle, and 8-1/2 inches wide. $325. Including shipping.
